HOW OLD ARE YOUR CHILDREN?

Sailing is an exciting experience for children of all ages, and there is no room for boredom. Therefore, sailing with children is becoming more and more popular, as it is an exciting change from a hotel holiday. Even for babies, a holiday on board a sailing yacht is an experience as the gentle rocking of the boat in the waves is particularly pleasant and calming. Importantly, childcare for babies is usually provided below deck, so adults should not be prone to seasickness.

Small children need special attention when sailing. After all, they are usually just starting to develop their urge to move and therefore need constant supervision. However, children as young as five can already take on smaller tasks on board and thus feel like a valuable team member. Such tasks can include, for example, operating the winches or tying knots.

SAFETY HAS PRIORITY AT ALL TIMES

Needless to say, we want your family to be safe on board at all times. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you put on the children’s life jackets as soon as they step onto the deck. In addition, there are other safety measures that are offered depending on the yacht. These include a railing net and a lifebelt. The latter is hooked directly onto the yacht with a snap hook.

THE RIGHT YACHT

Whether sailing yacht or catamaran, the choice is yours. As a yacht charter, we recommend that you clarify in advance whether personnel must be planned on board or whether you want to experience the sailing holiday all by yourself. After all, this already determines the size of the yacht. Can the children be accommodated together in one cabin or should each child have their own little kingdom on the high seas?

THE DESTINATION

The Balearic Islands are an ideal destination for sailing with children due to the consistent and mostly Mediterranean weather. This is not least because the waters have no currents and supervised swimming is therefore all the more fun. Important when planning your trip: When sailing with children, you should always make sure to sail to relatively close ports of call and allow time for stopovers. After all, there is a lot to see on the Balearic Islands and there are plenty of opportunities to go swimming or snorkelling together. If you dock in the ports as early as midday, you can take in the sights together with the children and go out to enjoy a meal in one of the many local restaurants before returning on board in the evening.
